Gordon Mixed-use Development

A new heart for an iconic Sydney village

Like many of Sydney’s Upper North Shore suburbs that radiate from the Pacific Highway, Gordon had long suffered from a lack of focus along this main traffic corridor.

So, when asked to prepare a concept design for the busy heart of Gordon, we looked to create a village centre that allowed residents, shoppers, and workers to stop and pause for a moment, rather than just another busy retail precinct by the highway and access route to the train station.

We created a welcoming, sun-filled plaza as a natural funnel inviting people into the food and beverage quarter and retail centre. The design incorporated a new 8,400m2 retail sector featuring a 4,000m2 Woolworths, a 1,500m2 Liquor store, speciality shops, restaurants & food courts, with up to 550 mixed tenure residential apartments in a high-rise above.

This major concept design project utilised Become’s full suite of expertise across Design and Architecture, as well as collaborating with a specialist urban planner to fully explore the highest and best use for the site.

Our concept design gave the developers much needed and valuable insight into the opportunity and flexibility of the location.
