”Camden Surgical Hospital is a new facility that aims to bring state-of-the-art, multi-disciplinary medical services to Camden. To achieve this, the project strategy was to create an attractive facility that enhances the hospital experience for staff and patients alike. Become. led the process in developing and designing a “non-institutional” experience for staff, patients and visitors. Arrival, entry, consultation, pre-op, surgery, recovery and departure sequences were all carefully considered, both from a functional and experience point of view.

Being envisaged as a staged expansion from the outset, the project team had to keep resident experience at the forefront of their design considerations. They showed great leadership in devising a staging strategy that minimised disruption to residents, but also met our operational and financial requirements. The completed facility has left the residents and staff in a wonderful environment to live and work. Become. have worked hard to ensure that we can continue to provide quality care.

Become. added further value by working with the project team to improve cost efficiencies of the build through measures such as tightening floor-to-floor heights and eliminating the need for sprinklers, whilst still achieving exceptional safety and design outcomes.
